Nike Pre-Nationals info on Athletic.Net

Friday evening update from Coach Tom Boldon:

Reminders for Saturday’s Meet in Portland:

1. The meet is at the Portland Meadows Race Track 1001 N Schmeer Rd, Portland, OR 97217.  Take I-5 North to Exit 306B.
2. We have athletes in 13 races.  Your son/daughter knows which race they are in.
3. Please remember race singlet, race shorts, race shoes, filled water bottle, sack lunch, snacks. money for dinner stop on the way home, Secret Pal gift.
4. There is a spectator fee of $5 per person,  Please plan accordingly.
5. These races are chip-timing, so athletes please do not crumple your race bib or you will not get an official time and could be disqualified.
6. There are souvenir t-shirts for sale while supplies last.  The short sleeve shirt is $20, the long sleeve shirt $25.
7. Aloha High School is providing a concession stand with stuff for lunch, snacks and drinks.
8. The kids need to be at the buses in front of Sheldon by 7:00 am tomorrow.

Here is some information for Saturday’s Nike Pre Nationals (from the meet director):

1. Chip Timing – Each athlete will receive a bib with a chip attached to the bib.  If you decide after Wednesday’s dual meet to move an athlete to varsity, you do not have to let me know.  The chip will follow the athlete. Please inform your athletes to not bend or crumble the bib as it will damage the chip.  We will post results immediately and if you do not see your athlete’s name on the results posted, let us know.  It is possible that the chip was damaged and we can fix it right away.
2. Lanes – we will send out varsity lanes for each varsity race soon.  If you have injury or illness that makes you want to drop your team down a division, please inform us.  We do not want a team to score under 75 points if there is a more competitive race available.
3. Friday – The course at Portland Meadows will be open from 1-6 on Friday for a chance to run the course.  We will have Nike Pre Nationals t-shirts available on Friday afternoon.  The short sleeve shirts are $20 and long sleeve $25.
4. Spectator Fee – There is a $5 spectator fee to enter Portland Meadows on Saturday.  Please let your families know.  Portland Meadows does not allow dogs inside the race track.
5. Food – The Aloha High School Marketing class will sell lunch, drinks and snacks at the meet.
6. Facility – the infield of the race track does not have stands for spectator seating.  Encourage families to bring their own seats.  Teams can bring in their canopies and set them up on the south end of the infield.
7. Awards – individual medals will be handed out at the finish line.  Varsity team awards will be handed soon after the race is completed so please have your athletes cool down near the finish line.  Top five teams in D3, D2, D1, Danner and JV Champs receive plaque awards.

Looking at the weather for Saturday, it looks like a great day of racing!  Looking at our field of athletes, it looks like a great day for cross country!
